Cabaret in the Courtyard is a performing arts series produced by CCAE Theatricals at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, industries like the Performing Arts wondered if they would ever return to in-door and in-person events, fearing that these community gatherings in the theaters may be become relics of the past. With cleverness and creativity, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido launched a new series in 2021 to bring the wonders of the stage to the COVID compliant outdoors with Cabaret in the Courtyard.
Process
In early 2021, the Associate Executive Director of the Center sat down with me to conceptualize the brand for this new series. We were inspired by the idea of speakeasies and entering a world of magic and reprieve from the sadness and loss we were all experiencing during the Pandemic, at least for one night. In the final concepts we pulled together elements of the Art Deco era with a modern, personalized feeling using a loose signature script.
